Contact lenses do not melt due to barbeque heat. They would, if you put your face on the grill, but then I think contact lenses would be the least of your worries.
Though, there are other risks associated with wearing contacts, especially if you work in some chemical industry or heavy mechanical engineering works, which (& preventions or cures to which) you can find at http://www.fda.gov/medicaldevices/productsandmedicalprocedures/HomeHealthandConsumer/ConsumerProducts/ContactLenses/ucm062589.htm
As much as I am uncomfortable with contacts, they would not melt because if barbeque heat.
P.S. : This post is written in answer to the hoax that I've come across lately, (& was snared by until my friend rescued me! :D ) that barbeque heat, while cooking may melt your contact lenses.
